I'm pretty excited about my soon to be pilgrimage to the land of many waters. In a few days I head out to the coastal area for a church mission. Again, this is totally out of the norm. This year, I decided to do things that I wouldn't ordinarily do and so far so good, I'm pretty excited with the progress.I've climbed a few hills, climbed a mountain, attended quite a number of runs, tried foods I never tried before and now I'm going out on duty - not office duty, but a church appointed duty! Huh! How's that?
When it was recently announced in church that they were looking for people to go out for about 2 weeks to reach out to a carefully selected group of people, I quickly jumped on to the idea. But the enormity of the task only dawned on me when during prayer time, we were referred to as missionaries! Me, a missionary?
On looking up the meaning of a missionary this morning, this is what I found out. "It is a member of a religious group sent into an area to do evangelism or ministries of service, such as education, literacy, social justice, health care and economic development." Wow, deep deep stuff.
As I said, I'm pretty excited and can't wait to share pictures and stories of where we'll be.
God bless.
